Kulturhistorie

SvarSlettHere's a translation as best this American can muster:
Lyngen was used for thousands of years by the fishermen at sea: In the absence of other plants it was used as fuel for the hotplates and hot tubs (?). It was used as animal feed, as insulation in housing, drainage materials, the dyeing of wool, tanning leather, as mats on the floor for lack of beds and as a medicinal plant. Lyng has antibacterial properties when extracted from the plant and was used to disinfect the nicks. It is still used for making beer and wine in Scotland.
Thanks Annemarie :) great translation!!
